V07 Virtual Cybersecurity Event

BPA Announces a New Cybersecurity Virtual Event

Since 2003, October has been recognized as National Cybersecurity Awareness Month. This awareness was brought forth from a collaborative partnership between the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and the National Cyber Security Alliance. To help support this cause, Business Professionals of America is thrilled to introduce a new virtual event focusing on cybersecurity.

The new national-only virtual event provides students in cybersecurity, network security, and computer security educational programs the opportunity to apply and showcase the skills learned in respective programs in a real-world based environment. The contest fulfills a need for students in the Information Technology area the ability to apply traditional business skills with industry-specific cybersecurity-related skills. The virtual event will give students a chance to compete against other students across the United States in an innovative cybersecurity event. The event is designed to challenge students, apply technical and professional skills, all in a virtual setting. Competitors will not be required to attend the National Leadership Conference, but finalists will be invited to attend. The contest will include an online proctored objective exam, a judged presentation covering a case study topic relating to cybersecurity. The finalists will be announced before the National Leadership Conference and will be invited to participate in the National Showcase to showcase their projects.

Finalists will compete in a lab-based hands-on component to determine the best-of-the-best. The event will include a certification voucher to take either the Certiport and EC Council certification exam for Ethical Hacking Associate or Cyber Forensics Associate. Registration for the event starts in October and will close November 9, 2019. The contest will take place from January to March; concluding at the National Leadership Conference where awards will be presented.
